Religious Education Program is a Catholic based curriculum including sacramental preparation for First Holy Communion, First Reconciliation and Confirmation. The curriculum includes community outreach and fundraising activities, parish/family gatherings, and liturgical participation. Religious education classes are offered to students during the months of September - May. Catechists are available for special education students and students above grade 8. Youth Program consists of students in Grade 7 and above. Students assist in the religious educational programs and parish community events and meet monthly for group discussions, refreshments and future event planning. Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is available to adults interested in the Catholic faith or in receiving the Sacraments of Baptism, Communion and Confirmation. All adults are invited to deepen their relationship with Jesus by sharing their Christian experiences and faith with others. RCIA sessions meet weekly at Mary's Nativity Faith Formation Office located on Jasmine Avenue & Parsons Boulevard. Staff. Catechists and Junior Catechists volunteer to teach and assist in all the programs offered. There is always a need for individuals to share their gifts and their time. Catechists teach young people about the Catholic faith and make a real difference in our children’s spiritual and moral growth. A catechist should be a practicing Catholic with a desire to evangelize and lead others to Jesus. They should have a willingness to attend courses to further their understanding of Scripture, Spirituality, and Methodology.
